While their interests are different, their goal has always been the same. Chris enjoys the business side of the company, focusing on customer relationships, sales, and the day-to-day operations. Dan is happiest in the field or the shop, making sure every project is completed with the quality and attention to detail clients have come to expect. Together, they make a great team, with each bringing strengths that complement the other.
Growing up on a farm near Watertown, Minnesota, Chris and Dan learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and helping one another. Those lessons stayed with them and became the foundation of Neaton Brothers Erosion when they started the company in 1998.
Like many family businesses, they started with very little. They had a rented tractor, a shed borrowed from their uncles, and one employee, their younger brother Joe. What they lacked in resources, they made up for with determination, long hours, and a commitment to doing the job right.
As word spread and more customers put their trust in the company, Neaton Brothers Erosion continued to grow. In 2005, the brothers built their headquarters in Mayer, Minnesota, creating a home base that reflected how far the business had come. Along the way, they expanded their team, invested in new equipment, and built the experience and systems needed to take on projects of every size.
Today, Neaton Brothers Erosion works with both public and private clients on everything from small, one-time projects to large, multi-year developments. The company has also grown beyond erosion control by farming materials used on its projects and providing snowplowing services during the winter months.
